I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I graduated with my Master's in Education in Marriage and Family Counseling from University of Florida. I moved to Arizona in 2016, but before that I lived all over the southeast region. I am a mom to my amazing son and have many animals. Aside from my passion of helping others heal, another one of my passions is helping animals. I am currently working on building a non-profit animal sanctuary and will be eventually providing animal and equine assisted psychotherapy.
I have over 10 years in the counseling field and have worked in a variety of settings such as inpatient, residential, and outpatient/community behavioral health settings. I have worked with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, providing individual, family and couple’s therapy. Common concerns that I work with are mood, thought, and personality disorders, anxiety, trauma, family or marital conflict, depression, autism spectrum disorders, and acute stress-related concerns. I have specific training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and Emotionally-Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems.
My approach to therapy centers around relationships and connection, as we do not live our lives in a vacuum and often, we are seeking ways to build meaningful connection with others and within ourselves. My communication style is open, direct and kind. You will never have to wonder what I am thinking, as showing up in the therapy space with congruence and authenticity is a priority to ensure you feel safe. I take an integrative approach to therapy which commonly consists of DBT, IFS, Structural Family Therapy, Narrative, Psychodynamic, Family Systems, EFT. The first session can feel overwhelming and often people wonder where to start or what to share. I will provide guidance and prompting along the way so that we can focus on getting to know one another and ensure that you are able to effectively communicate your needs and are able to feel heard and understood. My hope for all of my clients is that they feel safe and comfortable in the therapy space so that they can process whatever thoughts or emotions that surface, and eventually are able to feel empowered to make changes in their life that lead to a greater sense of well-being.
In individual therapy, the focus is on helping a person understand themselves better, address personal challenges, and improve their mental health and overall well-being. Typically, we explore their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and past experiences to identify patterns and develop healthier coping mechanisms.
In family therapy, a variety of issues are addressed, depending on the specific needs and dynamics of the family. The focus is on improving communication, resolving conflicts, and enhancing the overall functioning of the family system.
Couples therapy is designed to help partners address relationship issues and improve their connection, communication, and overall bond. In this type of therapy, both individuals work together to explore the challenges they face as a couple and develop strategies for resolving conflict, enhancing intimacy, and fostering a healthier relationship.
