I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I graduated with my Master's in Education in Marriage and Family Counseling from University of Florida. I have over 10 years in the counseling field and have worked in a variety of settings such as inpatient, residential, and outpatient/community behavioral health settings. I have worked with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, providing individual, family and couple’s therapy. Common concerns that I work with are mood, thought, and personality disorders, anxiety, trauma, family or marital conflict, depression, autism spectrum disorders, and acute stress-related concerns.
My approach to therapy is rooted in connection—both with others and within ourselves. I believe healing happens through authentic, meaningful relationships, and I aim to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported. My communication style is open, direct, and kind—you’ll never have to guess what I’m thinking, because showing up with honesty and congruence is a priority in our work together. I take an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Structural Family Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy.
I know that the first session can feel overwhelming, so I offer gentle guidance and support to help you communicate your needs and begin the process of self-exploration. My goal is to help you feel empowered, heard, and ultimately more connected to yourself and others as you work toward greater well-being.
I’m Danielle Spies, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a passion for walking alongside individuals through life’s most challenging moments. My journey began in the medical field over a decade ago, where I discovered my deep commitment to supporting others. That passion led me to transition into the mental health field, where I’ve spent the last five years helping children, teens, young adults, and adults navigate healing and personal growth.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked with a wide range of concerns including trauma, mood and personality disorders, substance use, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, harm reduction, and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
My therapeutic style is direct and honest, while also compassionate and encouraging—I believe in both challenging and championing my clients. I strive to create a safe, supportive space where you can feel heard, validated, and empowered to make meaningful change.
Whether you’re facing past trauma, managing overwhelming emotions, or simply feeling stuck, I’m here to help you take the next step with confidence and clarity.
